AND MARCH WAS GOING TO BE RED HOT……..

JOHNSON GROUP……THE LAST TO LEAVE.

It’s been a crazy week this past week to say the least!!! Things changed literally overnight in Guatemala and around the World during our last groups stay…..The Johnson crew came in for 3 days of fishing before all the boarders were secured and international travel essentially shut down Guatemala. They fished March 13-14-15 and flew out the 16th before the midnight border closures were enforced.

Over their 3 days on the water with the crew aboard Allure II they raised 54 sailfish getting 47 bites!

Along with the sailfish they also got into some XOS bull mahi mahi with a double header 41lb and 36lb and a few smaller ones to boot….

Making for an outstanding trip all round. Good timing on the bite and on the departure date….Saludos!!

CROWTHER GROUP

And another well timed trip for the Crowther group fishing March 12-13-14 aboard Intensity for 3 days flyfishing….

Their trip summary; they raised 44 sailfish into the teasers getting 36 to bite the fly and released 21!! Great trip and good averages on the fly….

McCORY GROUP

Good to see John and his crew back down at the OASIS and aboard ALLURE II for 5 days of fishing March 8-11th….

A bit on the slower side on the sailfish and a bit of unseasonal wind about as well, 44 sailfish raised with 31 releases from 38 bites. They also raised 5 blue marlin over their 5 days getting 2 bites though pulling the hook on both….if that’s slow fishing I’ll take it!!

And several nice mahi mahi in between billfish bites….

STONE; FATHER & SON

March 8-9-10 father and son crew fishing aboard Captain Hook had blast with the crew on the boat and at the Lodge.

Over their 3 days on the water they raised 33 sailfish releasing 21 from 26 bites as well as a blue marlin.

Good Spring Break for team Stone!!

RODNEY STRONG GROUP

Great to see Matthew back down here in Guatemala hosting his group for 3 days of fun and fins! The boy’s timed their trip well with the fish biting hard over their March 5-6-7 dates…..

Fishing aboard Allure II and Intensity the guys were on them getting plenty of bites and practice hooking aggressive sailfish off the teasers.

123 sailfish up in the teasers and 78 releases from 110 bites for the group meant pretty much non-stop action….

TEAM WILSON

March 3 & 4th Jeff and Marsha Wilson enjoyed 2 days on the water raising 20 sailfish and released 13 from 18 bites!!

BISSETT GROUP

March 1-2-3 the Bissett group fishing 3 day on the fly aboard Intensity enjoyed good action with some good teaser fish switched to the fly for them releasing 26 sailfish from 39 bites and raising over 50!!

JONES GROUP….

March 1 & 2 the above group had a blast, summed up here by Terri:

“We had an unbelievable experience from the staff at the lodge, to fishing on the Allure II. We not only were treated as guests, but part of the Sailfish Oasis Family. Capt. Jono, Julio and Enio are the best!!! We shared so many laughs, made unforgettable memories and so many new friends. We caught lots of sailfish, blue marlin and my bucket list dorado. Jim and I can’t wait to go back and we will be fishing more days!!”

Always pleasing to hear positive feedback from the hard work put in by the whole Oasis team……

2 days on the water for these guys produced good variety with 25 sailfish released from 38 bites, 1 from 2 bites on blue marlin and a few nice mahi mahi in the bin!!

JEFFERSON, DUNKEN, LLACUNA

February 27-28-29 the group split up between Allure II fishing conventional and Intensity on the fly, another group that experienced good fishing and the best time at the OASIS…

L-R Volcan’s Fuego, Acatenango, a jumping sailfish with Volcan’s Agua and Pacaya to the right.

Fishing conventional tackle over 3 days on sailfish: Raised 90. Bites 73. Releases 52 and one blue marlin!!

“23 Sailfish landed 1st day–great intro for us. Capt Jono & crew were fabulous! Never forget the LADY DUO team effort. Great place to stay, terrific staff, food & coffee. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Dan & Bev J

They were a bit tougher to switch & hook on the fly though team Llacuna aboard Intensity still had great fishing with 58 sailfish teased in and 27 bites on the fly!

“Great fishing, great Lodge and great times! Can’t wait to come back! Staff is awesome, Captain Mike and his crew were fantastic! Nick is the perfect host! Thanks for a great time”

Tim and Nancy L

With these uncertain times ahead we hope that everyone is keeping safe!! We are maintaining the Lodge and boats as if we were ‘open’ & importantly, keeping our staff on for as long as we can.

We’ll be standing by on Channel 16. Good luck to everyone out there. We’re looking forward to getting back on the water again and making more fun fishing memories in the (hopefully) near future.
