END OF 2023 LODGE & ALLURE II FISHING

BLOUNT FAMILIES

December 18 through to the 22nd we hosted the Blount families from Texas, Chris, Tiffany, Stockton and Grayson along with Jeremy, Jennifer, Cash and Brody. Staying 5 nights at the Lodge with 3 days of fishing and a walking tour to Unesco City Antigua in between which was a hit on their day off the water.

A pretty stiff cold front made for some tough conditions a couple of their days out, though the fishing kept everyone occupied.

Bit sporty out there the second morning on the water though it laid down by afternoon everyday…..

The niños crushed the multi-species with sailfish, mahi-mahi, wahoo, mackerel and jack creval.

The padres whacked the mahi mahi and sailfish…

And the final count between the two teams fishing aboard Allure II and Capt Hook, they raised 91 sailfish getting 75 bites and released 39 with Team Padres just pipping Team Niños 20 sailfish releases to 19. As close as it gets!

We had an awesome time hosting them here at the Oasis and on the boats, a lot of fun.

A fantastic trip leading up to Christmas.

Cheers to that!!

BOBBY & CAROL

Bobby and Carol were back down for a pre-Christmas trip for 4 day of fishing mixing it up between conventional and the fly and a couple days in between relaxing at the lodge and bit of mangrove fishing on the panga in the canals behind the Lodge.

And invited future mates Alejandro and Juliocito out their last day on the water for a bit of fun, with both boys catching their first sailfish on the fly!

Always a good time with these 2, at the Lodge and on the water, non stop laughs and good times. An afternoon trip on the panga even produced a nice snook from 3 solid hook ups and a few more thuds.

Over their days on the water they raised 53 sailfish getting 37 bites between the fly and the conventional as well as plenty of mahi mahi to keep them busy..

HILL DISHMAN

We had the old crew together for one day on the water with Hill on Dec 13. A bit on the sporty side with the ENE wind kicking up in the morning, and in the morning session we raised 3 sailfish, getting 3 bites and releasing 1 on the fly.

And boated plenty of mahi-mahi for the cool bag and the return trip to Houston.

BILLFISH INVITATIONAL

Allure II participated in the 8th and biggest yet Guatemala Billfish Invitational.

The guys experienced some good fishing, though a bit tough on some of the ratios. Overall an outstanding success with money raised for the billfish awareness and conservation.

Over their 3 days on the water the crew fishing aboard Allure II raised 64 sailfish, had 47 bites and released 24.

DON & MARTHA

December 3 through the 6th it was a pleasure to see Don and Martha from Las Vegas back here in Guatemala fishing aboard Allure II

The billftshing fishing was great and the mahi bite was off the wall…

Their trip total was 52 sailfish raised with 27 releases from 45 bites, the mahi bite, we kind of lost count, and on their last day out we raised a blue marlin getting a just about bite, swipe and miss, released 2 striped marlin, one for Martha and one for Don and released 5 sailfish. A just about grand slam….

Striped marlin, a tough one from a sailfish / striped double, this one came up hot on the Bonze Lures Submission.

Good times with these fourpeat couple and we’re looking forward to their fivepeat visit next year!

HIBERNIA / NGP GROUP

November 29-30 so good to see Embry and Patrick back after their 2017 trip where the idea of Hibernia was born and celebrating the success’ of the past few years with the guys behind it all brought along to enjoy the Lodge and incredible fishery we have here as a thank you.

Fishing aboard Allure II, Tranquility and Sea Fox for 2 days we experienced flat seas and good fishing along with great banter and camaraderie. An awesome group to host!

The bite was steady with plenty of mahi mahi in the mix and a total of 80 sailfish releases from 120 bites and 2 blue marlin from a few more rasies. Thats a couple of good days on the water…

We all enjoyed it and look forward to their next projects success and celebrations here at the Lodge!

And that about wraps up 2023 for us here at the Lodge and on the boats. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to everyone. We’ve appreciated all of you that have stayed and fished with us over the past year and are looking forward to 2024 kicking off at the Lodge on Jan 3rd and an awesome season ahead.

Cheers from this lot, we have a great crew and are super grateful for all they do, the feedback is always super positive and that’s what we all strive for. On a bit of a sad note we saw Lodge manager Nick Poole  finish with us after nearly 14 years at the helm. A true stalwart he will be very much missed by both clients and staff alike, we wish him all the best with the future for he and Mariane in Antigua.

See you here in ’24!
