2nd fish of our first day out a great blue marlin bite off the short teaser for Kevin.
And we went on to release a couple on the fly and 14 on the conventional tackle for the ones that did not tease all the way in, which was a few, a tough task on the fly.
As well as a nice bull mahi for Rick….

SERENA GROUP
Feb 24-28th A gift to Tom from wife Serena a trip to the red hot fishery of Guatemala on board the legendary CaptainHook along with friends Bill and Nicole. It was tough fishing out there though Nicole released a nice big striped marlin, they got into a few sailfish and mahi mahi also.
“We have heard all of the legendary stories about Sailfish Oasis and our expectations were high!! Sadly the ocean didn’t give us the bounty this trip, so what made up for it was incredible warmth and hospitality of the Lodge and boat staff-our Capt and mates were stand outs! Along with Nick, Daysi, Carlos and Freddy (the mayor of Guatemala!) We enjoyed our stay so much we would love to come back and give the ocean another shot!”
Schneiders and Redells
DICK & MICHAELANN
Feb 24-28…..89yr old Dick Tron doesn’t let age get in the way, he and his 70yr old niece had a great time aboard Fishy Business out of the Oasis releasing sailfish, 1 blue marlin each and a couple of mahi.
MERCK GROUP
Feb 25-26th, from Corpus Christi finally making it down to Guatemala again after their postponed March 2020 trip. Good fishing for the guys releasing sailfish, raising a couple of blue marlin and releasing one along with a couple of big mahi.
LAUREN CONCRETE GROUP
Chilling down at the Lodge, Lauren Concrete from Austin were down treating the crew to a couple of days fishing aboard Allure and Intensity Feb 23-24.
Steady fishing out there, everyone released a couple of sailfish, we raised a blue marlin that didn’t switch to the pitch bait and a nice mahi for Tim. Good times with these guys and looking forward to seeing them back here.
A few tough weeks here by Guatemalan standards though we still scratched trips out of it for all our groups. Cooler than average and streaky off colored water to blame though things are on the change. Most boats raised over 30 sails today, big mahi’s and there are some blues are in closer. It’s all looking good for the rest of the season. We have some openings April through May and are looking fwd to fishing June through August. Summer time is the best time!
