FISHING THROUGH APRIL 30th

RICHTER GROUP

Bobby and Bryan Richter with Gabe and Jonathan Meyer

April 26-29-Good to see the Port A group back down here again for their first trip of ’19, our main man Bobby recovering from a nasty leg break put him out of action for a few months. A well timed trip though with some very good fishing for the crew…

We saw a few blues getting some good shots at some hot fish with Jonathan releasing a couple, including a nice 300lb fish on the 30lb test, the fish eating a ballyhoo after we missed it on the pitched mackerel.

On top of that the sailfish bite was strong raising 77 sails and getting 69 bites for the guys. Strong enough to modify Booby’s walking cane with the trusty Zebco 808….

Pretty sure that’s a first!!

And a second, with Bryan joining the walking cane/Zebco club…..

Good laugh as always with this crew who are planning to make up for lost time and getting back down here over the summer months for the blue marlin bite.

BUNK FAMILY

Carter, Beth, Craig and Foley Bunk.

April 20-21 we welcomed the well travelled Bunk family from Houston in for their first taste of Guatemala.

Another well timed trip, fishing the bottom eastern corner of the pocket we had good steady fishing over their 2 days with 52 sailfish in the spread. The fish were working big wads of bait 20ft-30ft down and as a result were tough to convert though we did get 39 sailfish bites as well as a few shots at mahi mahi.

Great time all round and we’re looking forward to seeing them back down here in Guatemala soon…

From here on in we fish fairly steadily through May 19th, though we have the back half of May wide open through to early June. The much anticipated marlin bite seems to be heating up and it will stay good right through November. We are open, get down and get into some awesome summer fishing here in Guatemala with plenty of sailfish, mahi mahi, tuna and the summertime blues….
