FISHING HIGHLIGHTS THROUGH FEBRUARY 24th

GOEBEL GROUP

February 23-24th the Goebel Group of 4 fathers & sons fished aboard Allure II and Intensity for 2 days. They had good fishing with sailfish, marlin and a couple of large mahi mahi to 46 inches!!

Awesome trip with the boys who over 2 days of fishing raised 50 sailfish and released 23 from 41 bites as well as 2 blue marlin up releasing 1, missed a striped marlin and boated a couple of large mahi’s

GILLIAM GROUP

February 20-21-22 Great to see Dan back down here in Guatemala this time with Jamie, Jane and Kellie.

Good fishing for these guys with 22 sailfish released from 40 bites and a few good sized mahi’s though the marlin luck eluded with 2 bites on their last day while on the hunt, though a little bad luck with both fish dropping off the hook….

FRED ON THE FLY

Feb 20-21-22. Perfect sized blue on the fly for Fred fishing aboard the Intensity, awesome achievement there! Blue marlin in the spread every day as well as 35 sailfish raised over their 3 days on the water.

KEPPLE GROUP

Fishing Feb 21-22 the above group out of Houston had a blast at the Lodge and aboard the Captain Hook.

8 sailfish released for the crew from 13 bites, 1 large mahi mahi and a nice blue marlin up in the spread that they got the bite from though did not convert. Great to see the bite on the pitched mackerel off the short teaser all the same…….

NAT ON THE FLY

Feb 16-17-18 Nat fishing aboard Intensity on the fly for 3 days released several sailfish as well as a blue marlin estimated at 350lb!!! Incredible effort and congrats to all involved, a fish like that on the fly is one to remember.

Awesome shot of Nat with one of several sailfish for the trip.

SMITH & SUZY ON THE FLY

Feb 15-19th great to see Smith and Suzy back on Allure II for 5 days of fly fishing…..and what a trip! Bringing the blue marlin luck with them they raised 4 blue marlin releasing 2 from 3 bites with a fish of about 150lb for Suzy and the next day a fish of over 300lb for Smith.

Again, amazing effort by both of them, especially the large fish which took just over 2 hours to get the release on, another fish of a lifetime on the fly.

They also had 40 sailfish in the spread for their trip, some finicky hard to tease sails out there, but still good enough for several releases.

SACOPOLUS GROUP

Feb 13-14 we welcomed Nick, Mike, Steve and Ed to the Oasis and 2 days fishing aboard Allure II.

21 sailfish raised and 11 releases from 13 bites as well as a nice blue marlin for Ed…

Good times with these guys….

RODDY GROUP

February 10-14th the above group brought the blue marlin luck with them and had a blast with the crew on Intensity.

For their trip they raised 28 sailfish releasing 14 from 21 bites. On blue marlin the crew raised 10 releasing 3 from 6 bites!

KING GROUP

February 10-12th nice to see John King and crew back to the Oasis and aboard Allure II. A bit of tough fishing out there unfortunately with the bite slowing down and some tough to hook sailfish to boot….

For their trip the guys raised 21 sailfish into the spread getting 16 bites. As mentioned, a little unseasonally tough as far as Guatemala fishing this time of year goes.

A good marlin bite out there right now, and there is an upward trend in sailfish numbers the past couple of days. In all honesty a bit slow on the sailfish as far as February is concerned and we’re picking this latest trend to see March get back on track to what we’re used to here in Guatemala.

Springbreak is just about upon us and we have March 13th and 14th open up on ALLURE II due to a last minute cancellation. The marlin bite only gets better from here on in and the sailfish bite as mentioned is onward and upward….

Don’t forget, April through August are some of our favorite months to fish here in Guatemala. The best time to target blue marlin, as well as big tuna, mahi mahi and the ever present sailfish make these months the most diverse. We’re looking forward to summer!! Get in on these months, we have availability on Allure II, Intensity, Captain Hook and the nimble 31ft Gamefisherman ‘Gringo’.
