FISHING THROUGH JANUARY 28th

SHINKLE, RIDER, LONSDALE

January 25-28 Good to see Brian Shinkle and Tim Lonsdale back down here, this time bringing along with them Jonathan Rider representing the San Francisco Fire Department.

Overall a great time had with some good fishing in between, they released 56 sailfish from 91 bites as well as a couple of nice mahi mahi in the bin. Jonathan picked it up in no time and was baiting them off the teasers like a pro after 1 day….Good to see hot teaser fish!!

RIATA GROUP

January 26-27 With Riata, a group from Midland, TX, Tony Hill, Joe Sitzman, Brent Rends and Don Robinson spent a few nights at the Lodge and enjoyed some incredible fishing aboard Capt Hook with Capt Eddie and the crew. Their hook up ratio was up there with the best releasing 45 from 50 bites on sailfish for their trip as well as a couple of nice mahi’s in the bin…

JOHN & SHAWN KING

January 22-24th we had the pleasure to meet and fish with John and Shawn King from North Carolina. Kind of tough for us our first day out though we got into some good fishing from there on in, again, some good hot teaser fish in the mix making for some incredible switch bites…

41 bites on sailfish as well as a tuna and mahi mahi in the boat. Ideal conditions out there with overall good steady fishing. We’re looking forward to seeing John and Shawn back down here soon!

JOHN & NICK RIZOPOULOS

January 18-20….We met with father and son fishing team John and Nick Rizopoulos in Freeport back in August after they got in from a trip. Keen as flyfishermen the pair of them, so it was awesome to see them here in Guatemala giving it a crack on the fly for sails and mahi’s.

The fishing was little on the tough side with 23 sailfish raised into the spread, 10 sailfish bites and 3 releases as well as a couple of nice mahi’ on the fly…

Some great bites on the fly, though a bit of bad luck with hooks pulling after some solid hook ups. All the same, good people and a good time had!

Right now the fishing is good, the past 2 days our new group in from Oregon has released 67 sailfish between 2 boats! The fish are pushing in with the blue water….all good in Guatemala. A more thorough report to come end of next week.

We have had February 14th-15th open up and Intensity is open as well. 2 great boats available in the highest demand month of the year, come down to experience billftshing at its best, get a group together and get in touch with:
