GREAT BLUE MARLIN BITE IN OCTOBER

 XV GUATEMALAN INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Opening night Dinner and Angler Draw at the Oasis

October 20-22 Club Nautico hosted the XV Guatemala International Tournament here and we hosted the opening night dinner down at the Lodge. 13 teams representing 6 nations competed in the 3 day tournament.

Angler Draw

We hosted the Gavit family with Bill and his sons Glenn and Dean at the Lodge over 4 nights with one angler rotating boats daily.

Jorge Sinebalde, Bill and Glenn Gavit

And Dean Gavit with one on.

Good fishing over the x 3 days on Allure II, we got the bites though had a bit of a tough time converting them into releases. Day one we released 10 from 16. Day two we got on the fish late in the day and had a great bite for the last x 2 hours, bit of bad luck on the conversion rate going 14 from 32, enough to win the day. Also raised x 3 blue marlin though no luck there on the tournament regulation 20lb line and ballyhoo baits. Day three we went wide searching for the previous days bite and released 11 from 20. Good fishing overall with 68 bites over the 3 days.

Congratulations to the Top Anglers 1st Juan Torruelas 2nd Alvaro de la Hoz and 3rd Luis Cordova.

Top Tams: 1st Puerto Roco 3, 2nd Pedator Puerto Rico and 3rd Piragua

We managed to squeak out 3rd place in the boat division on Allure II.

CONTRERAS GROUP, MARLIN, SAILFISH & MAHI’s

L-R Brian, Jake, Martin and Hudson

October 14-15th we hosted the above group for 2 days one the water. Good times with a great group of guys. Raised 6 blue marlin and had 3 good bites, unfortunately 2 jumped off though Jake got into one releasing a blue of about 200lbs

Also went 6 from 7 on sailfish…..

And lost count of how many large mahi mahi / dorado we had. Great sport and good eats! Jake took the cake with this beauty….

BAM GROUP…..BLUE MARLIN!

October 13th we hosted local Guatemalan bank BAM management for a day trip and what a day on the water for them. They raised 10 blue marlin releasing 3 from 6 bites! Only a couple of sailfish in the spread today though 7 large mahi mahi boated as well to top off an awesome day on the water!

Good to be back out there on the water. Plenty of blue marlin about and the sailfish bite has been steady as well with plenty of large mahi’s out there in the mix.

November 16-17-18 is the NO SANCOCHO TOURNAMENT and we’d love to get a team for it. Great tournament for a good cause with all money raised going to local schools here in the Puerto San Jose District. Get in touch with:
