HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND THE LATEST FISHING

DENNISON FAMILY

Down for a Pre-Thanksgiving trip to Guatemala the Dennison family had an awesome time down here at the Oasis and aboard Allure II with us. A bit of a slow start though the trip got better on days 2 and day 3 was a stunner….

Starting off with sailfish and some mahi’s they ended up overall with 20 sailfish from 32 bites and 4 nice mahi’s in the boat. We raised a couple of marlin the first couple of days though no luck…

Max got into plenty of sailfish and the largest mahi…

With marlin and tuna being the focus on the last day that’s what we concentrated on and it all came together with an incredible day on the water. Lot’s of life out there with spinner dolphin, massive bait balls, whales and the pelagic’s in the mix….

Lewis on his first blue marlin, a beauty in the 300lb+ class.

They ended their last day with 2 from 4 bites on blue marlin, 2 from 5 on sailfish and a big tuna in the boat. An incredible trip for the family from St Louis!!

INTENSITY IN EL SLAVADOR

Mike Sheeder and the crew on Intensity fished the team from Club Nautico for the El Salvador International Tournament out of Bahia del Sol November 15-17. For the Tournament they released 3 blue marlin from 5 shots to be just out of the marlin money though won 2nd place in the sailfish devision and $10k in prize money!

TEAM SHINKLE AND LONSDALE

Tim Lonsdale and Brian Shinkle

Tim from London and Brian from St Louis are a couple of Guatemalan stalwarts, fishing here since the early 2000’s we worked out they first fished with us on the original Allure back in November 2006. It’s been awesome to see them come back here a couple of times a year since...

We had good fishing having 54 sailfish up in the spread…

Some nice mah’s….

And we had 5 blue marlin up in the spread over their trip with a late in the day double header sailfish / blue marlin on the light stuff, a stubborn blue on the 30lb test for Brian.

And on the last day out Tim got his one on the pitched mackerel….

There you have it. We’ve gotten off to a very promising start here in Guatemala with there being plenty of options out there. There have been multiple areas of sailfish ‘bites’ with good numbers all round, the blue marlin are also out there in good numbers over large areas and with the tunas these past couple of seasons there have been some nice specimens when you find the spinners. Throw in a few mahi here and there and it makes you appreciate Guatemala for the incredible fishery it is.

We still have December 30-31 and January 1st open for an ideal way to see in 2020. There are also a few dates open in early January, typically some red hot bites at this time of year!

We have teamed up with Capt Mike Sheeder on the Intensity this season and there are a few prime openings for Intensity packages still to be had. Get in quick because they will not last.

We are also booking Tranquility (44′), King and I (50′)for the larger boat options with Capt Hook (42′) and Makina (36′) also. For the smaller boat option the awesome 32′ Gamefisherman ‘Gringo’ will be available from mid-January on. The Lodge can accommodate 20 anglers, ideal for larger groups wanting to get in on this incredible fishery.
