3 MINTZ GENERATIONS

From 80 yrs young to 11 yrs old and Sean in between we had the best time with the 3 generations of the Mintz family from Corpus Christi

The trip started with mahi’s, boating 6 and young Phoenix got his PB so far with a nice 20lb bull!

From there we got into the sailfish experiencing some of the toughest fish we have seen out there for a while, trying different angles, one taking 45min with the last 15mins to sunset on the 30lb gear and still pulling line….another 3 out there were as tough as can be as well.

Mike and Phoenix with a full sized sailfish.

Over 3 days we raised 78 sailfish and they released 41 from 60 bites, their last day going 22 from 37 bites ending the day with a quad released from 6 behind the boat!

We also went wide hunting for tunas, finding a some great bill fishing, chasing birds, though no spinners holding tunas. On top of the sailfish we raised 3 blue marlin with Sean and Phoenix sharing the release on one….

A fun 3 days with young Phoenix fishing like a pro by the end of the trip!

CAPT BOB, CAROL & COURTNEY

And as good as ever to see Bobby and Carol back down with us introducing their niece Courtney to offshore fishing here in Guatemala…

And they got into a bit of everything, Courtney releasing her first sailfish…

Landing her first mahi….

And a few tunas!

Fishing 80lb mono with circle hooks we tend not to land too many wahoo here from the very few we do see. With a bit of luck on our side a large wahoo in the 50lb+ range jumped a good 6ft clear of the water before eating the rigger bait. Showing itself before the eat, Capt Bob was on the ready, got the bite, locked it up immediately and the circle hook found the top corner of the jaw….

Keeping those teeth away from the 80lb mono, a nervous time though we got the gaff in and Bobby now has the new wahoo boat record.

That’s 4 wahoo bites in the past couple of months, missing a 40lber on the gaff shot and a couple chewing through the leader. Pretty happy with this result, pretty work Capt Bob!!
We also spent a couple of days out looking for spinners and got some pretty tuna bites on the Yummy flyers, Bobby also got the largest tuna of the season so far with a solid 100lb+ fish….

The sailfish bite was steady and Courtney is looking to be the new mate on Allure II next season, getting on the leadering game for Carol.

17 from 32 bites on sailfish, we also raised 4 blue marlin with 3 not switching off the teasers and getting the bite from one. That’s a good fishing trip!! No shortage of laughs and plenty of variety and action on the fishing side.
NICHOLAS & NICK

Our good mate Nick introduced 8 yr old Nicholas to a couple of days of late July offshore fishing Guatemalan style. The young man did an awesome job, boating tunas, the biggest mahi he’d ever caught and his first sailfish!!!

On their first day out going wide we marked a ton of bait off the edge.

And their second day we fished the bottom of the pocket getting into sailfish, marlin and plenty of small mahi.

Beautiful day out there.

Over their 2 days we boated a bunch of tunas, several mahi’s and raised 25 sailfish getting 19 to bite, releasing 12. Their last day we worked the bottom of the pocket hard for blue marlin raising 4 getting 2 bites though some bad luck saw them both become unstuck.

JAY & IRA

So good to see Ira back down in Guatemala with Jay on his second trip back at the Oasis this year. We promised Jay blue marlin so that’s what we worked hard at achieving, and he definitely brings the blue marlin luck…
Everything was floater related, after the rains of June the logs are starting to hold bait, Jay got one from a beauty bite on the skip bait.

And one on a live bonito…

A fun trip raising 4 blues and releasing 2 from 3 bites as well as 47 sailfish in the spread releasing 23 from 36 bites and a bunch of healthy mahi mahi to share around.
JOHN, JOHN & GEORGE

John and George’s first trip back with us in a couple of years this time introducing younger John to his first ever trip offshore targeting billfish. What a trip, he got into it all, released a marlin his first day out, sailfish, tuna and mahi mahi for the rest of the trip.

A pretty good sailfish bite out there for the guys and George got into the right sized blue that came off the teaser and ate the long bait on the 30lb.

A lot of bait and some funky bites as a result. The guys nailed the tunas, raised 75 sailfish releasing 36 from 61 bites and we saw a few blue marlin, raising 6 blues and releasing 2 from 5 bites…

That’s good summer time fishing for the Midland crew!

The Lodge looking stunning on a mid July evening…Thanks for pics George.
OFFSHORE ADVENTURES-KIWI CREW

Fishing buddies Pete and John hosted by Flyn of @offshoreadventuresfishtheglobe from NZ were in for 6 days targeting pelagics pulling teasers and casting the fly aboard Allure ll.

What an awesome trip it turned out to be, they got into a few small tunas on the fly….

We cast the fly to a couple of mahi without luck though did get a good one on the conventional tackle for Pete.

And over their 6 days on the water we raised 77 sailfish into the teasers getting 34 shots on the fly rod and 17 on the conventional tackle.

And we raised 7 blue marlin into the teasers with Pete casting the fly to 4 of them getting the bite and release on 2 of them on the fly rod! That’s quite some fishing right there…check out the tease and bite on this blue, the perfect sized fish for the fly….

And after a tough scrap, the healthy release…

Along with this larger model.

Some good angling skills by Pete to get the release on this one as well
And we pitched the mackerel to 2 of the blues releasing 1 from 2 bites. A beautiful switch bite off the @bonzelures Submission short teaser right off the transom on their last day out for John. After a work out on the 50lb standup gear he got the release to top off a memorable trip.

Pretty work fellas.

We also hosted Marg and Paul at the Lodge for 7 nights and Marg went 2 from 2 on the fly, fishing with Capt Kennedy aboard the 31′ Bertram Typhoon. They also raised a bunch more that were balling up baits so super difficult to switch to the fly…
CAROL & CAPT BOB

Carol getting it done on her brand new Custom Rods ‘OCK-ee’ made by Sailfish Oasis resident, Capt Jono Nicholas.
Capt Bob and Carol were back down for the end of June, early July bite here at the Oasis and at the same time testing out Carols new rods. Our charter rods were a bit heavy for her so Bobby placed an order with Capt Jono for these super light rods and the results were excellent. Rainshadow 20/40 blanks coupled with Winthrop epic uni butts and Alps guides finished off with Jono’s excellent craftsmanship and a quality product that they are super happy with. If anyone needs some custom rods built just ask and Jono can make light, heavy, spinning or jigging rods to your specifications!

To the fishing, our first day out was a bit slow though we got into a few small tunas, some sailfish, a good 30lb mahi and Bobby pitched the bait and got the release on this beautiful hot, lit up stripey off the teaser…
And we got into them pretty good the next day. They invited Lodge manager Laura and her daughter Renata and the mini mates Alejandro and Juliocito along….

Laura

Alejandro

Juliocito

And Capt Bob got on the helm for a bit putting us onto a beautiful hot blue marlin off the short teaser, a violent bite on the pitched mackerel that I was lucky enough to be on the end of and after a tough down and dirty fight we released her healthy as.

We went wide looking for the spinner porpoise and tunas our last day out with little luck though the sailfish bite was very steady over a large area.

Another fun trip with Bobby and Carol who always enjoy inviting the staff and their kids along. For their trip we got into a few small tunas, a bunch of large mahi’s, raised 60 sailfish releasing 27 from 43 bites and raised 3 blue marlin releasing 1 and a striped marlin to boot. That trip kicked off what was to be an excellent month of fishing here in Guatemala…

What a month July turned out to be. After a stormier than usual June the weather settled, the water was like a purple blue out there and the fishing was excellent. The sailfish were out there in numbers if you targeted them, the blue marlin were steady if you targeted them, the mahi’s were quality fish and if you put the time in and went out wide you could get into the tunas to about 50lb. We did mark some larger fish out there deep on the spinners.
It is shaping up to be another incredible season here in Guatemala, this past season was phenomenal and I’m picking this season to be even better, one not to miss out on. We are taking bookings now for November and December, 2 excellent months to be on the water here. Get in touch and don’t miss out!
On a sad note, we’d like to say farewell to our good mate Colin Ocker. Colin fished with us every year, sometimes twice a year, since 2012. Every year with the infamous ‘Super Bowl Group’ of which he was a stalwart, early on organising the groups of 12 to 16 anglers and a few family trips in between. Our most sincere condolences go out to Liette, Ethan and Caleb and all the Port A and Corpus crew. He will be very much missed. Adios amigo, descanse con paz su alma, from all of us here at Sailfish Oasis….you will be missed and never forgotten.

Jumping into ku11kubet11. Interface is pretty slick from what I can see. I’ll let you know how it goes after I play around for a bit. Maybe I’ll find a new favorite game. ku11kubet11
Going big with megacasino678! The name sounds promising at least. Hoping to find a wide variety of games and some good bonuses. Wish me luck, folks! megacasino678
Alright, so I gave N188casino a shot the other day. Honestly, it’s got a decent selection of games. Nothing crazy, but enough to keep things interesting for a bit. It’s easy enough to navigate too. Check it out at n188casino if you’re looking for something new.
