LATEST FISHING OUT OF THE LODGE…….

 NED KELLY GANG……

Ned, Dan and Craig Kelly, John Surridge, Josh and Pete Kelly with Roger Palmer and Jake Gilmore…

August 20-23rd Good to see our second group this year out from New Zealand with Oasis regular Craig Kelly doing the hard yards and organizing the above gang for a Latin American Adventure to Guatemala for fishing and beyond for travel. All admitted it was ‘too easy mate’ with the direct flight from Auckland to Houston and then a two and half our jump from Houston down to Guatemala.

The first couple of days they spent in Antigua soaking up the sights, smells and sounds of the colorful Spanish Colonial City, local markets, first rate restaurants and pubs……

And then headed down to the Pacific Coast and the Lodge for 6 nights and 4 days of fishing……

Good fishing for the crew with 73 sailfish raised and 44 released from 68 bites…..

Along with 9 blue marlin that came up into the teasers with 3 releases from 5 bites…..

The Waihi Kelly clan accounting for the marlin, Pete with son’s Dan and Josh.

We headed out wide one day looking for the ‘bite’ and ran into several pods of spinner dolphin holding small yellowfin tuna for fresh sashimi and seared tuna for dinner…

And there was endless mahi mahi action out there with individual fish and plenty of pack attacks to keep everyone on their toes…..

Overall and awesome trip for the crew, plenty of laughs, brews, great food and good fishing.

Finishing up with and Argentinian style asado on their last night.

Good times with good people. After the trip a couple of the guys headed to Tikal and on up the Yucatan Peninsula to Tulum and beyond. Another couple headed further down to South America to eventually fly out of Buenos Aires and the rest headed back Down Under via Houston. As mentioned, an easy trip with the direct flights from Auckland, NZ to Houston and a good time to get out of the Southern Hemisphere winter.

We start back out there on October the 6th, the blue marlin bite is normally pretty solid through into November with the sailfish biting right through the year. We have openings in October through December and January. February and March still have the odd days available with some prime dates for large groups that have just opened up due to re-scheduling. This is an excellent opportunity to bring down your best clients/employees/friends as boats are already reserved. Ideal for 8 to 20 anglers. Get in touch:
