CHASCO CONSTRUCTION ’25
Pretty awesome to have hosted the Chasco Construction Group out of Austin every year since 2017! It says and means a lot to see groups re-booking for their annual Guatemalan fishing fix with us, which is what this group has already done for next season. This year they fished 3 boats for 2 days and Allure II the 3rd day with the other 8 heading down to the beach club Playa 14 in El Paredon for the day. 57 sailfish, 1 blue marlin from a few raised and 11 mahi for the 2025 group!
BOBBY ‘n CAROL
Always plenty of laughs with these two down the Lodge for their first ’25 trip of the year and a couple more planned in the coming months, talking about repeat clients, Capt Bobby has been fishing with us here since 2012!! Fishing x 4 days with a couple of days off the water picking mango’s for margaritas they had a day on the fly and 3 days conventional fishing which saw over 100 sailfish raised and 1 blue marlin with 45 billfish releases overall. Epic fishing!
TEAM NZ
Representing Waihau Bay Fishing Club for the Rolex International Tournament fished out of Quepos, Costa Rica the above group came in for a couple of days to practice their dead bait fishing techniques. They learnt a bunch and took it to the International leading the tourney after day 1 and placing in 12th out of 35 teams overall after day 3. Impressive stuff!
BILLY NEWELL GROUP
Happy to see our good mate Billy Newell and his group of 8 back at the L0dge for x 3 days of fishing aboard Allure II and Capt Hook. Another epic 3 days on the water releasing 44 from 91 on sailfish and also raising 8 blue marlin releasing 2 from 6 bites, a couple of nice ones in the mix as well, throw in a bunch of mahi mahi a quick tour of Antigua and it was another trip to remember.
HILL DISHMAN HOSTED GROUPS
Good to see Hill hosting x 2 bands of pirates over 5 days here with us. Awesome to catch up with some old faces and meet some new, quality fishing and times for both crews overall releasing 68 sailfish from 114 bites, going 1-2 bites on blue marlin and landing some nice big solid bull mahi mahi. Brad Klein went all out for the mahi bite and it paid off!
CHRISTAIN & JOHN GIBSON
Father and son team for their first trip to Guatemala after many trips to Panama and we hope to see them back here in Guatemala again soon. They did well going 3 from 5 on sailfish, they raised a couple of blue marlin and missed the one bite and John landed a nice 60lb yf tuna!!
BEREND GROUP
Happy to see Dr Keith back at the Oasis and aboard Allure II with this years crew from Dr’s Without Boarders. After spending a week here helping the local communities they enjoyed 3 days on the water. Good timing too with 69 sailfish bites, 3 blue marlin in the spread with Marc having a heart breaker after the line parted 1 and 3/4 hours after hooking up a healthy blue marlin.
Overall the bite has stayed strong with just a few days in between a new body of fish moving in and inevitably the bite comes back on. It has been an exceptional season overall and we’re expecting this to carry on right through into early September. We’ll be staying open throughout the summer months taking advantage of the excellent sailfish bite, the blue marlin bite always peaks over the summer months and the larger tunas and mahi are more frequently found as well. Take advantage of it with us!
