YOUNG/GIVHAN GROUP, 30 SAILFISH

Robert and Walter Givhan and Joe and Chance Young

March 7th-9th, great to catch up with these guys again, I first fished with Joe and Walter back in 2004! Walter is hard core, no worries at 82 yrs young, still fishing hard! It was a bit tough by Guatemala standards in March though in reality, still very good with 56 sails raised and 30 releases from 47 bites.

CAPT DISHMAN GROUP, 13 SAILFISH & 2 BLUE MARLIN

Stephen Yamin, Hill Dishman, Gena and Kelley Irwin

March 10-12th fishing slowed a little out wide so the inshore drop off was worked hard by Hill and his crew and it paid off with 26 sailfish raised and 13 releases from 22 bites as well as 2 for 2 on blue marlin!!

Nice blue of about 250lb on 30lb test for Stephen Yamin

Couple of nice mahi’s for Kelley and Gina as well

As Gina’s fist blue marlin release, congrats!

KING FAMILY, 12 SAILFISH

Frank, Zac, Ariel, Cam and Maddie King

March 14-16 we had 3 generations of the King family down form South Texas for Spring Break. The group of 10 mixing it up between touring Antigua, Volcanoe climbing, coffee farm tours, mangrove tours and beach time as well as rotating fishing time offshore. Zac aged 15 and Cam 12 were doing it all, keen to learn they were pitching to all the fish as well as getting on the leader.

Good times and by the last day they were getting it together, they raised 44 sailfish and 1 blue marlin releasing 12 from 40 bites, a bit tough out there and some tough luck with several fish falling off right before the release, though it all came together on day 3. Cam has a job on ALLURE II whenever he wants!

And Zac with his, 2 from 2 bites on his last day out

Good crew with him all from Virginia Beach….They timed it well too, though the fish did a disappearing act on us the last day. Over their 3 days here they raised 90 sailfish and released 45 from 74 bites and boated a couple of nice sized mahi’s.

So there it is, the month that was, an awesome time with some great crews. We had some very good days out there though the fish were tough to stay on, here one day, gone the next a few times these past few weeks. We’re out there again tomorrow and looking forward to April, another great month and we should start seeing the school sized mahi’s moving in, typically with marlin right on their tails. We have some openings this month as well as into May. End of May into June is booked up and through into summer we see more variety with mahi’s, tunas, marlin and of course the sailfish are here year ’round. If it is blue marlin you’re after, we hope to be out there as much as we can in August through October when these fish are out there in numbers. Come check it out.
