Jan 19-20 good to see the core group back with the expanded version for Miller’s Bachelor Party. The fishing was a bit on the tough side though fishing between Allure II and the Captain Hook, the group released 19 from 28 sailfish, 3 from 4 bites on striped marlin and raised 4 blues releasing 1 from 2 bites. Throw in several good mani mahi and it’s still not a bad trip!

1st stripey for the day…

2nd stripey a couple of hours later

We missed our slam on Allure II when we got the bite from a blue late in the day that didn’t stick. Aboard Captain Hook it all came together releasing a blue, a striped marlin and 6 sailfish on their last day out…

Good effort!

Game of cards down at the Lodge.

Fredy taking good care

For the rest of their trip several spent the last couple of nights in Antigua enjoying the 16th Century Spanish Colonial city sights and restaurants/bars and a few climbed Volcan Acatenango, camping the night up there witnessing Volcan Fuego doing it’s thing. A must do trip if you have the time…

That night from the campsite.

And the next morning.

Jan 16-18th it was awesome to host the Grove family from Alabama for their first trip to Guatemala, they’d heard the stories first hand though with patchy and cooler than normal water out there it wasn’t to be. Fishing aboard Captain Hook there first x 2 days and on Allure II their last day out the group ended up releasing 10 sailfish and boating several good mahi mahi. They also had a nice blue marlin up in the spread that checked everything out in the spread though did not commit…

Enjoying cigars on the ride home and took a bit of time out whale watching a few miles off the beach…..

Kevin Guggenheim, Scott Smith and Richard Robert

Jan 16-17 from Houston great to meet and fish with first timers to Guatemala. We all have hight expectations, our first day out there was a tough one so we had some work to do on their last day out.

We went wide to the west and it paid off getting into the sailfish right off the bat.

Then mid morning we got the release on a nice stripey for Scott.

Getting the tough one out of the way we worked the deeper water water off the side of the pocket getting the one we were after a nice solid blue marlin for Kevin and with it the Grand Slam. Nice fishing fellas.

They finished the day going 6 from 9 bites on sailfish along with the stripey and the blue to finish the trip on a high.

Had a short day out with a couple of families out from Antigua. 16 year old Robert released a nice blue marlin with a couple of sailfish and mahi mahi for the rest of the crew.

The fishing has picked up out there these last couple of days, the runs have been long but the fish were found. We’re expecting a long season ahead so get in now for any fishing dates April through August. Summer fishing produces large tuna and mahi mahi, great blue marlin fishing and the sailfish bite right throughout the year.

Prior to mid January we had good fishing on Allure II with good sailfish numbers, a couple of blue marlin and the boys got this release on a rare part albino sailfish, the ‘cafe con leech’.

We do have other boats available February through March so get in touch, or book ahead for the spring/summer months:
