LEN, MARK & DAVE

Between March 17th and 20th, Dave, Len, and Mark savored a 5-night retreat at Sailfish Oasis Lodge. They embarked on an incredible 4-day fishing journey aboard Captain Hook. Under Captain Eddie Bairez’s guidance, the trio enjoyed superb action, releasing 61 sailfish from 96 bites. Additionally, they released 1 blue marlin from 2 bites and several sizable mahi-mahi. Hats off to the guys for a fantastic experience!

SNYDER GROUP

From March 17th to 19th, the Snyder group revisited Guatemala for more sailfish excitement. Comprising eight anglers, they fished aboard Allure II and Animo. Consequently, they relished abundant sailfish encounters during their quest!

Remarkably, the group released 90 sailfish from 149 bites across both vessels in three exhilarating days. Besides the sailfish spectacle, they spotted 2 elusive blue marlin and caught several impressive mahi-mahi. Absolutely extraordinary fishing!

MITCHELL, JAKE, KYLE & SARAH

From March 13th to 15th, we welcomed the Butler group for a memorable three-day aquatic adventure. Initially, day one started slowly; however, Captain Jono soon uncovered Guatemala’s hidden hot spot. Understandably, the guys were ecstatic, finding themselves amidst fish galore!

In the subsequent two days, splendid moments unfolded on the water. The group refined their deadbait fishing skills and mastered pitching baits to fish near teasers. What an exhilarating experience! Over the trip, they raised an astounding 79 sailfish, releasing 45 from 70 bites. Moreover, they caught several striking Dorado. Hasta la próxima!

EASTERLING GROUP

SPRING BREAK IN GUATEMALA!

March 14-15 we welcomed the Easterling family of James, Leslie and James Jnr to the Oasis Lodge and 2 days of fishing aboard Danmark with Capt Juan ‘Bomba’. They timed their trip well and were into some excellent fishing! 2 days on the water saw 71 sailfish in the spread with 44 releases from 62 bites and 3 large Dorado boated! Great to see the fishing pick up as a body of fish came in from the east for Spring Break.

GRACE GROUP

Thrilled to host the Graces on their Guatemalan fishing escapade from March 11th to 14th, spanning three amazing days. Initially, they boarded Allure II, followed by two days on Animo, a 45′ Hatteras. Throughout their aquatic journey, they raised 27 sailfish, spotted a blue marlin, and released 14 sailfish from 20 bites. Plus, they reeled in fantastic mahi-mahi, including one true standout!

CAPT BOBBY RICHTER

March 5th-9th Captain Bobby, a world-class fisherman with over a decade of experience in Guatemala’s sailfish scene, made his annual return alongside his wife Carol, sister Deborah, and brother-in-law Ron. Their reunion at the lodge, fueled by a shared love for sailfish fishing, only added to the exhilarating atmosphere. Fishing 3 days aboard Allure II with Capt Jono and the crew they raised 26 sailfish releasing 12 from 20 bites and also raised 3 blue marlin, missing 1 on the pitch bait and boated some monster mahi’s to boot! An awesome time taking one day out of fishing for a mangrove cruise in the panga behind the Lodge and generally relaxing.

TEAM WRAPPED UP

The Wrapped Up fishing team arrived at Sailfish Oasis, seeking to hone their skills before the much-anticipated Texas Billfish Season. The team’s lively spirit and camaraderie made their presence a welcome addition to the lodge, and the excitement was contagious as they immersed themselves in the sailfish-rich waters of Guatemala.

DICK & JACK

March 9-12th Dick was back at the Oasis for his 4th time, this time his good friend came back for another trip to this incredible fishery. They fished aboard Fishy Business for their 4 days on the water and enjoyed a good steady sailfish bite releasing 28 sails from 37 bites with 45 in the spread and boated some monster mahi’s in the mix. A great trip for them!!

CHASCO GROUP

We were stoked to welcome back our friends from Chasco Construction, based in Austin, TX, for their fifth year with us. This time around, they spent three days fishing on Allure II and Fishy Business, and two days aboard Captain Hook. Four of the group members even took their last day off to hit the links at the Maya Golf Course, just a short 50-minute drive from the Lodge.

While the fishing conditions weren’t quite what these seasoned anglers are used to, they still managed to have a blast, pulling in numbers that many other destinations around the world would envy. Across their days on the water, they raised 63 sailfish, releasing 35 of them from 54 bites. They even caught a blue marlin and hauled in a bunch of hefty mahi-mahi!

As always, spending time with this crew guarantees good vibes and great memories. Can’t wait to see them again next year!

As the season progresses, it seems like the water temperatures and fish bites are getting back to normal. Don’t overlook April and May here in Guatemala – both months are fantastic for fishing!

But wait, there’s more! June through August is when the blue marlin bite really heats up, along with sailfish, mahi-mahi, and the arrival of larger yellowfin tuna. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this action-packed season.

We’re now taking bookings for these upcoming months, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with us to secure your spot:
