Guatemala’s incredible sailfish numbers put the place on the sportfishing map. These fish, in fact, are central to why we’re here and how we’ve named the lodge.
Any day when you release 20 sailfish is a great day. Every year we’ll have days of 20 or 30 sailfish releases, sometimes more. We can’t guarantee the fish, but if you’re looking to experience what could be the best billfish trip of your life, there are few safer bets than Guatemala.

This was a group that fished a total of 10 boat days. Three boats fishing for three days, one boat fishing a day prior. The clients hooked fish themselves. It was a Hell of a trip.

The height of sailfish season in Guatemala runs November through March, but we catch them all year. We’ve experienced epic days, days of 20 or more releases, in every calendar month that we fish.
How We Target Sailfish
We target sailfish trolling. Our spread consists of teasers and a couple of rigged ballyhoo fished in the outriggers. We are ready with pitch baits—ballyhoo and mackerel for blue marlin.
The are enough sailfish here that we can target them with fly tackle as well. This is super exciting. Guatemala is the best place in the world for blue water fly fishing, and we’re well stocked and prepared to do it.
