Guatemala is home to the world’s best sailfish fishery and perhaps the best volume billfish fishery on Earth. It is a year-long fishery—we’ve had incredible sailfish days and caught blue marlin in every calendar month.

The blue marlin fishing here can be really, really good. If you hit it right, you can catch all the dorado and yellowfin tuna you’d like, too.

This combination makes Guatemala among the best, most consistent, and well-rounded offshore fishing destinations in the world. What’s more, most of our fishing takes place between 15 and 40 miles from the dock (of course this depends how the water stacks up and where the fish have been holding).

What makes the fishing in Guatemala different? Here’s some context:

Sailfish Numbers- When it comes to sailfish numbers, there is Guatemala, and there is everywhere else. Whether you’re after your first billfish, want to learn bait and switch or blue water fly fishing, would like to see what a quadruple hook up looks like, or are after your personal best, we’re here for it. Guatemala is ideal.
Year-Round Fishery- Guatemala’s season is longer than most places. We experience great fishing all of the months that we fish. Here is a breakdown of what to expect throughout the year in Guatemala.
Calm and Consistent- while we can’t guarantee the weather or the fish, if you’re after calm seas and offshore action, there aren’t many places that can compare with Guatemala.

Most Blue Marlin Releases In A Single Day: 7 blues released, 13 bites.
Biggest Yellowfin Tuna: 269 pounds
Biggest Dorado: 61 pounds

Most Sailfish Releases on a Trip: 520
This was a group that fished a total of 10 boat days. Three boats fishing for three days, one boat fishing a day prior. The clients hooked fish themselves.

These were some of the greatest days of fishing we’ve ever had. We’ve experienced them alongside all kinds of other really, really good days. Outside of Guatemala, there is perhaps no other single place in the world that could replicate these records.

Fishing Seasons.

Guatemala is a year-round fishery. You can experience incredible sailfish numbers in every month that we fish. Likewise, we catch blue marlin throughout the year.

That said, we divide the calendar into two parts. Both are great. If you’re able, we’d love to show you the charm and advantage of each.

Fish Species.

Sailfishing in Guatemala is great year round but there are certain seasons where different species really go on the bite. While there is not enough space to list all the fish that you could pull up on one of our boats, but see below some of the most sought after bill fish.
